The Reserve Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1957 and covers a 40 mile square area in the parish (county) of St. John the Baptist. RVFD has an IRC rating of 4 and a population of 12,000.

The Reserve Volunteer Fire Department consists of 5 stations, 4 pumpers, a 75ft ladder pumper, 1 heavy rescue unit, 1 medium rescue unit, 1 amphibious rescue vehicle, 3 support vehicles, and  28 members.
